Fatal collision near Porquis Junction

Deceased motorist is a 51-year-old Timmins man

A 51-year-old Timmins man is dead following a two-vehicle collision which occurred Wednesday morning near Porquis Junction.

The collision occurred at approximately 8 a.m., on Highway 11, north of the Highway 67 turnoff to Iroquois Falls.

Members of the Iroquois Falls detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to the scene, located in Calvert Township.

The driver of one of the vehicles, Michael McCreight, 51, of Timmins was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The investigation is on-going with the assistance of the North East Region Traffic incident management enforcement team including a technical collision investigator and a reconstructionist.

As of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said that section of highway remained closed.
