Gov’t sticks it to the North in vaccine ‘supply game’

Article content

I watched Premier Doug Ford’s press conference earlier this week and rewatched it again online.

My anger as a Northern Ontario resident really now is at its peak.

Our regional health unit has to be cautiously political correct to play the vaccine supply game.

I do not.

This elected politician, my employee, is so focused on his southern Ontario neighbourhood of Toronto that he rations vaccine supply to our region.

He and his colleagues and advisors are focused on begging people to fill empty clinic appointments in Toronto and ignoring the fact the we in Algoma are not even out of Phase 1. We now have variants of concern evident in our region and in the adjacent U.S. county in Michigan.

The rationing of vaccines is unacceptable.

Correspondence with his office and Sault Ste. Marie MPP Ross Romano goes unanswered.

We need to support our regional public health authorities and lobby for more equitable treatment in this region.
